Reducing Mental Health Disparities Through Sustaining and
Strengthening Healthy Communities: Increasing Knowledge through Research, Education and Practice

Welcome to the Southeastern Symposium on Mental Health 2019

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

Welcome to the 2019 Southeastern Symposium on Mental Health.

Prisma Health is pleased to host this important event for a fourth year with our academic and community partners.

For those of you not familiar with Prisma Health, we are a nationally-recognized academic health center committed to advancing patient care through research, scholarship, education and clinical excellence. We believe that the most powerful innovations in addressing our communities’ health needs are developed through partnerships. This symposium is an unmatched opportunity for all of us to work together to share new ideas, proven methods, evidence-based practices, and explore collaborative efforts in mental health.

I would also like to welcome you to Greenville, South Carolina. Greenville is recognized nationally as a wonderful place to start a business, raise a family, and enjoy the arts and outdoors. I encourage you to explore the many ways to get to know our city. Watch a baseball game with the Greenville Drive, the Single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, take a stroll or bike ride on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, or enjoy the shops and restaurants downtown. No matter what you choose, I know you will enjoy your time in Greenville.

Again, welcome to the 2019 Southeastern Symposium on Mental Health.
