Reducing Mental Health Disparities Through Sustaining and
Strengthening Healthy Communities: Increasing Knowledge through Research, Education and Practice

John Roberts, MD

Dr. Roberts, an addiction psychiatrist, serves as the Medical Director at the Pavillon, with nearly 20 years of experience acting as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. While there, Dr. Roberts was the attending psychiatrist for the Inpatient Dual Diagnosis Unit and the director of the Clinical Outpatient Division for the Center for Drugs and Alcohol Program.

Dr. Roberts received his doctorate of medicine from Louisiana State University and completed his psychiatric residency, as well as fellowships in substance abuse disorders and anxiety disorders, at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Roberts is board certified in psychiatry and has lectured throughout the Southeast on substance abuse disorders and psychiatric disorders.
