Meera Narasimhan, MD

Meera Narasimhan, MD is the Associate Provost for Health Sciences at the University of South Carolina and Professor and Chair in the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine. Dr. Narasimhan also serves on faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.
Dr. Narasimhan’s scientific career has focused on clinical, multidisciplinary, policy research, as an educator and community service provider at the University of South Carolina. One of her foremost accomplishments at USC has been starting a highly productive research division with an outstanding funding track record to help understand the biology and novel somatic interventions in a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders and its interface with medical illness. She has several NIH grants throughout her career and is nationally recognized for her work in telehealth to improve access and affordability with the work being awarded the Psychiatric Services Achievement Awardfrom the American Psychiatric Association and also being featured on the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, Innovative Exchange. Dr. Narasimhan has an excellent track record of fostering public-private-academic partnership(s) and has demonstrated her ability to think outside the box of traditional approaches to addressing basic public health service needs of the community capturing valuable data as it pertains to cost, quality and sustainability. She has collaborated across health sciences disciplines to deliver integrated care in this rapidly changing healthcare environment.
In recognition of her contributions she has received numerous prestigious national and international awards. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, was inducted into the American College of Psychiatrists and named to the list of Best Doctors in America. She has presented at numerous national and international meetings, is widely published in peer view journals and serves on editorial boards, various statewide and national professional organizations.
